Keith Joubert is South Africa's leading wildlife artist.
He studied commercial art and industrial design at the
Johannesburg School of Art. He worked for a while in
the commercial sector first as a book illustrator, then
a sign writer, before he decided to paint full time
and spend as much time as possible in the African bush.
Joubert works in oil, watercolours, mixed media, and
bronze sculptures. His subject matter is of wildlife,
with particular emphasis on the atmosphere of the natural
habitat. He often depicts the full cycle of life starting
with smaller organisms, through to the more complex
relationship between man and his environment.
Joubert currently lives in the Selati Game Reserve,
adjacent to Kruger National Park in South Africa, where
he has an outdoor studio overlooking a waterhole.
His work is shown internationally in Johannesburg,
Paris, London, Texas, and most recently, Reno, Nevada
USA in February 2002.
