Terry Mathews born 1931, raised in Uganda and Kenya and some schooling in England. He has always since early childhood had an interest in the wildlife amongst which he has lived. From 1949 working in Kenya in many of the wildlife areas as a surveyor, 1956 saw a change into the Safari Industry as a Professional Hunter and guide.

Always as a hobby sketching, photographing and just observing all the animals and birds that share this habitat. Naturally when an injury caused him to quit the hunting field it was a natural progression to create in three dimensions and from there to have these models cast into bronze. This material has so many advantages for wildlife sculptures as its strength and malleability allow for the artist to capture the movement that he requires and modern patination techniques help to supply the colour to complete the finished sculpture.
