Hazel trained in Fine Art at Camberwell and Leicester.
Embarking immediately upon her career as an artist she
quickly became recognised for her versatility in watercolour.
A visit to Africa began a love affair with the African
bush and African wildlife became one of her main watercolour
themes. She has over 20 one-man shows to her credit
and enjoys an international reputation, with works represented
in public and private collections.
To television audiences, Hazel is well known for her
role as one of the art experts on Channel 4's painting
programme 'Watercolour Challenge' and Anglia TV's two
series of 'Splash of Colour'.
Published by HarperCollins, she is the author of six
books, mainly on watercolour painting including 'Hazel
Soan's African Watercolours', which sold out within
a few months of publication.
Hazel shares her life between London and Cape Town.
She regularly heads off to the Kalahari, Namibia and
Botswana to paint in the bush.
