Leigh Voigt was born to a botanical artist mother and
a psychiatrist father and trained at the Johannesburg
School of Art, before spending seven years in advertising
studios.
Leigh is now an internationally acclaimed artist, known
particularly for her paintings of birds and wildlife.
She has had 17 solo exhibitions, has participated in
many group shows and is represented in galleries and
private collections in South Africa, America, the United
Kingdom and Canada. Leigh has also illustrated eight
books.
Lulu Phezulu: Leigh Voigt's African Album, her autobiographical
account of life in the bushveld, which she both wrote
and illustrated, won the prestigious Book Data Booksellers'
Award in 2000.
She lives with her artist husband, Harold, on a nature
reserve in Mpumalanga, South Africa.
